BLOOD is thicker than water, but there aren't too many people who often travel more than 14,000km to visit relatives they've never met.
But that's exactly what Barrie Thomson, of Texarkana, Texas, did when she travelled to Orange to meet members of her family she only recently discovered.
Barrie was born and raised in Texas, and knew almost nothing about the family of her mother, who was born in Sydney.
"My mother never really told me much at all about her family, and that's why I always wanted to come out here and search and seek and find my relatives," she said.
