Plagiarism Update

Well, the crisis is over. The content thief has taken down my posts, and issued a non-apologetic apology in which he claims to have been trying to "promote" my blog.

Too bad for the authors that their work only will be on their own sites and maybe not found by the masses.
If I need traffic from a cheesy scraper site, I'll give you a call. And no, I'm not giving a link to your website. I wouldn't want to "promote" your blog without your permission.

Update (8:45 PM): In one final, ironic twist, my original post on being ripped off has been ripped off by another scraper site. This one, at least, only grabbed a snippet, and gives me a link back.

Dana Huff

How utterly ridiculous! Trying to help the masses find your site? Still scratching my head.

His defense would be far more credible if he'd linked every "contribution" to its source. Just as appalling is his comment on Dick Eastman's site, in which he pleads ignorance and cautions the rest of us to watch out for copyright infringements. Reminds me of the old Steve Martin routine where he gives a foolproof way to stay out of jail:

"Let's say you're on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, 'I forgot armed robbery was illegal.'"

Ken Davidson

Well, you can see why he needs to get his content from other people. He can't even write an intelligible English sentence.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, steal from those who can.

Jonathan Bailey

If there is any way that I can help, let me know. There are many ways to fight back against scraping with out a lawyer or any expenses.

Just use the contact form on my site ( if there's anything that I can do.

Hope this works out well for you!

Thanks, Jonathan! Fortunately, my situation has worked out, but I'm sure there are many other victims out there who are not so lucky. Your site (here's a link) looks like a good place to start fighting back.
