The Not-So-Good Old Days

Beth Gay posted this last week to the APG mailing list:

As an Alabama resident & researcher, I am aware of the 245 volumes published by the late Pauline Jones Gandrud. In the foreword of "Alabama Records, Volume 86, Newspapers", published by the Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr., Southern Historical Press, Lucas writes "Her lifelong method of publication had been to type an original and nine carbon copies [ouch!] of each of the 245 volumes, selling the original at one price and the copies at a lower price. The result of this method was that she was always far behind in getting particular volumes to the potential customers who wanted these". [Link]
