Abe Zapruder was famous for filming the Kennedy assassination in 1963.On what date did his father arrive in America?Extra credit: Where is his father buried?
Srul Zapruder left Hamburg on Jul 1, 1909 and arrived in New York on Jul 11, 1909. His wife and 3 children, including Abraham, arrived a year and a day later.Known as Israel in the US, Abraham's father is buried in Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Queens.
I've found a Snul Zapruder immigrating in 1909 who appears to have a wife with the same name as Abraham's mother.Still looking for a death and burial place.
Israel and Anna Zapruder, believed to be the parents of Abe Zapruder, are buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Flushing, NY.
July 11, 1905. I give up on the burial.....?
Yes, Israel "Srul" Zapruder arrived in 1909, and was buried with wife Chana (Anna) in Mount Hebron Cemetery. This appears to be the only Zapruder family to have lived in the U.S.
Hrmmmmph....That'll teach me to go to church first... I missed the boat... err the cemetery.Janice
In the NY Passenger Lists 1820-1957, Abraham Zapruder enters in 1920 with Chana Zapruder (his mother) and two siblings. On 11 Jul 1909 Snul Zapruder enters the country, alone, on the Cincinnati from Hamburg. He lists his wife as Chana Zapruder, so this sounds like the ideal candidate to be the father of Abraham.I haven't found Snul in any other records yet, so the burial place is still a mystery to me.
I was trying to figure out how you guys knew that Snul was the same as Israel. I then found the WWI Draft registration for Israel Zapruder and he lists his wife as Anna. Guess you were all quicker than me today!!
