Genealogue Challenge #36

Just months after the death of her Match Game nemesis Charles Nelson Reilly, Brett Somers succumbed to cancer last weekend.

When and where did her parents marry?

(Special thanks to Doug for his help with this challenge.)

Harry Edw. Johnstone married Mollie E Somers 16 Aug 1921 in Northumberland County, Newcastle Parish, New Brunswick Canada.

Found articles online that gave me the following clues:
Brett Somers was born Audrey Johnston.
The name Somers was her mother's maiden name.
She has a sister, Geraldine Charmichael, still living in the Greater Portland ME area.
Audrey grew up near Portland Maine.
Audrey was born in New Brunswick Canada.

I was able to find the family in the 1930 Portland District 64 Maine Census. [they are indexed as Iahuson instead of Johnson on ancestry.com]

It said the first child Geraldine was born in Maine, but Audrey was born in Canada. It showed the parents had been married about 9 years. I didn't find any Maine marriages, so I looked back in Canada and found it at:

That was hard. I discovered a wealth of Canadian records I didn't know about.
Thanks.

Chris

Darn, I thought I'd stumped everyone. Yes, they did marry on that date.

Notice that her family's name was "Johnstone" in the Canadian records, not "Johnston." Audrey Dawn Johnstone and her mother Mollie entered the U.S. from New Brunswick at Vanceboro, Maine, on 5 Sept. 1924, bound for Portland.
