What was the maiden name of the wife of the doctor who attended the death of actor Don Knotts's father?
The hardest part has been trying to figure out the doctor's terrible handwriting.http://pittsburgh.about.com/od/famous_locals/p/don_knotts.htmJesse Donald "Don" Knotts (July 21, 1924 - February 24, was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, about an hour south of Pittsburgh, to Elsie L. Moore (1885-1969) and William Jesse Knotts (1882-1937). He was the youngest of four sons in a family struggling through the Depression. His father, who had suffered hysterical blindness and a nervous collapse before Don was born, rarely left his bed. His mother kept the family going by taking in boarders. One of his brothers, Shadow, died of an asthma attack while Don was a teenager. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspxhttp://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=1600455&Type=DeathHis doctor was: Odar B. Weker? Or something similar???
Dr. Eldon B. Tucker was married to Ada Gay Wotring according to Family Trees at Ancestry.com
For the life of me I can't figure out who (exactly) this doctor was, let alone his wife's maiden name. I'll keep hunting but I'm lost in scribble signature land.
For me, the key to deciphering the doctor's signature was the marginal note, "Dr. Tucker." I then looked for Tuckers in the 1930 census for Morgantown.Dr. Eldon B. Tucker was indeed married to Ada Gay Wotring. Their son Eldon was also a physician, as well as a published genealogist.
Geesh I wasn't even close on the name, and how did I miss the margin notes? To think I just did some FamilySearch indexing in the 1900.. I sure hope I did better there than on this decifering.
Dr. Eldon B Tucker was an anetheologist, working at the General Hospital. Both him and his wife Ada are buried in Morgantown, West Virgina. His Son Dr. Eldon B. Tucker, Jr. was also an anetheologist and is burined in Murray, Utah.
