Genealogue Challenge #128

Mel Ferrer died on Monday. He was an actor and director, but to my mind his greatest accomplishment in life was marrying Audrey Hepburn.

What was his mother's complete maiden name (four names in all)?

Extra Credit: What theater company is now located at the exact address where Mel's maternal grandfather was born?

Mary Matilda Irene O'Donohue, daughter of NY Police Commissioner Joseph O'Dononue

It's Mary Matilda Irene O'Donohue according to Wikipedia.

That's it. The Wiki entry had just "M. M. Irene" last night. Her full name is given in her marriage announcement.

Can anyone answer the extra-credit question?

Is it Shooting Star Theatre at 40 Peck Slip?

Drew Smith

Joseph J. O'Connor was born at 40 Peck Slip (according to his New York Times obituary). It's currently the home of Shooting Star Theatre.

Oops, make that O'Donahue, not O'Connor.

Wow, a virtual tie! Here are links to Joseph's obit and to the website of Shooting Star Theatre—home to Montauk Theatre Productions.

And if I spelled it "O'Donahue" in my previous posting, I meant "O'Donohue"! One of these days I'll get it right.
