Some tidbits:
Public records show that Marilyn was born in 1926.
There is a marriage between a Harry Levy and a Beatrice Cohen in Manhattan in 1917.
A Benjamin Cohen died in NY in 1960, age 57, wife Sophia, sister Beatrice Levy.

I was hesitant as well since the census didn't say "Shirley" but the obit clearly states that Harry & Beatrice are the correct parents of Carol Bruce and her sister Marilyn Berk. I could find no Harry & Beatrice Levy with daughters Shirley & Marilyn, in 1920 or 1930. I haven't checked to see if Marilyn Berk is roughly the age of Ruth listed in the 1930. I'll keep looking.

I was wondering if this was the right family. The parents' names are correct, but their daughter's age is more than a year off from Carol Bruce's reported date of birth (Nov. 15, 1919). And every source I've seen online says her name at birth was "Shirley."
